Val-Des-Monts Location Map
The municipality of Val-des-Monts is located about 40 kilometres north of Ottawa, beyond Gatineau in the Outaouais region of Quebec. With a current population nearing 9,200, this community was established in 1974 by the merger of the towns of Perkins, Saint-Pierre de Wakefield and Poltimore. The area is mainly rural, containing many farms and uninhabitable mountainous forests.
There is a high concentration of commuters who make the trek into Gatineau or Ottawa each day, as well as a high percentage of cottage community. Its many lakes and recreational activities inevitably boost the population during weekends, holidays and summer months.
