Kemptville is an urban and rural community which enjoys the benefits of quality lifestyles, natural and heritage amenities, essential services and positive growth. A short drive south of Ottawa, it is located in the Municipality of North Grenville, easily accessed by the Veterans Memorial Highway (Highway 416), as well as Leeds and Grenville Road 43 (formerly Highway 43).

Holding about one third of North Grenville’s population, Kemptville is the largest community in North Grenville. Kemptville has 3 elementary schools- Kemptville Public School, Holy Cross Catholic School, and South Branch Elementary School, 2 high schools – North Grenville District High School and St. Michael Catholic High School, as well as two local parks, and two hotels.

The Kemptville Campus of the University of Guelph is also located in town, offering diverse programs designed to service the needs of the rural community.

The Rideau River Provincial Park is situated on the north side of town, while the majority of the residential area is located in the south and east parts of town. Kemptville Creek runs through the town, beginning southwest of the town and emptying four kilometres northeast into the Rideau.

Kemptville has a mixture of both forests and farmland surrounding the area, the east and north part of the community being mostly forested, while farmlands occupy much of the west and southern parts.

Kemptville provides many amenities to its residents, such as the Kemptville District Hospital, the Kemptville Fire Department, a branch of the North Grenville Public Library, and the Kemptville Mall, and is also home to a variety of churches. Recreational facilities include the North Grenville Municipal Centre, which has two ice surfaces; community halls, a performance theatre, a tourism office, concession space, and new Municipal offices.

The Recreation & Culture Department offers many programs including Yoga; Low Impact Fitness; Babysitting Courses; Ballroom Dancing; Public Skating; Movies, specialty camps, and much more for all residents to enjoy.
