The McVey family has been providing people in the Ottawa area with insurance protection for more than 40 years. In April 1961, William McVey and his partner purchased the Alex Fraser Insurance Agency. Joined in the business by his three sons - Philip, Robert and Carson McVey - William sold his interest to them and retired in 1991.

On a first-name basis with most clients, it is not uncommon to see them at the home or business of a policy holder to review coverage - a practice inherited from their father.

In 1998 the boys opened their own brokerage which operates as McVey Bros. Insurance Brokers Ltd. at 2280 St. Laurent Blvd. (near Walkley Road) in the Ottawa Business Park. Then in 2004 Robert McVey retired from the insurance brokerage to pursue other business interests.
